WE ARE WORKING TO KEEP VIENNA’S LIGHTS ON!

“New York is not the only city that never sleeps. People automatically picture a bar where you can enjoy a cocktail or discos where night owls can dance the night away. The same can be said of Vienna.

I mean the hospitals, however, in which doctors, sisters and nurses care for people who need help in the middle of the night. I am thinking of the many police officers who keep the peace during the night, of the ambulance drivers, night bus drivers, street cleaners, of the many people who are awake while others are tucked up in bed.

And, of course, I am thinking of my colleagues at Wien Energie, because we make sure that the unthinkable doesn’t happen: that the power fails without any warning, and nothing works anymore. Can you imagine what would happen if hospitals, offices and street lights lost all power for an extended period of time?

It is our responsibility to ensure the lights of the Greater Vienna metropolitan area are always supplied with power, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. That is our job, from management to trainee.

After all, when you sit down to enjoy a cocktail, the barkeeper should not run out of juice because there is no power!”
