In response to the deregulation of the electricity markets and the increasing amount of integration in the European market, EnergieAllianz Austria (EAA) was founded in July 2001. Wien Energie GmbH and EVN AG both hold 45% stakes in EAA, with 3% held by BEGAS and the remaining 7% by BEWAG. These companies have locations, among others, in Vienna, Linz, Essen and Leipzig.
The primary function of EAA is to direct the sales operations of its shareholders who remain responsible for direct contact with retail customers. Trans-regional business customers, key accounts and large industrial as well as foreign customers are all managed by EAA on behalf and on account of the partner companies. EAA is also responsible for the supply of natural gas customers with an annual consumption of less than 500,000 cubic metres.
In total, EAA supplies around 2.1 million retail customers, handling 3.3 million customer electrical power and natural gas accounts, both domestically and internationally. This makes EAA one of the leading energy service providers in Central Europe.
