Wien Energie Gasnetz helps to protect the environment by transporting gas through a network of pipelines that are environmentally sensitive. This network extends to around 3,500 km in length, supplying not just the city of Vienna but also 14 municipalities in Lower Austria with gas.
Natural gas is delivered directly to around 710,000 grid customers in a gaseous state by means of an underground network of pipelines. Natural gas in the Greater Vienna metropolitan area is handled in an environmentally friendly way from the very beginning, since it reduces pressure on roads and railways by being transported in pipelines. In this way, Wien Energie Gasnetz makes an important contribution to protecting the environment, as well as sparing Austria’s beautiful countryside unsightly pipes.
